| Welcome to seeing red Welcome to Seeing Red. I'm Lyri, and this is my own little fanart site hosted by Sarah at Simplistic Desires. Lyri Updates Wednesday August 20th, 2008 Wow, I don't think I've gone this long without an update before. So many things have been happening lately, both in RL and online. Anyway, enough of my whining, today I'm adding a total of Four new pieces. Halo: this was the inspiration for the new layout, obviously, but I did change it slightly for the site. I've seen this image around a lot the last few months, but I never knew what I could do with it, and I couldn't get my hands on a HQ version. So when I came acros these lyrics, and this HQ image, I knew I couldn't miss the opportunity. I perfer the colouring I used for the layout, but I think this piece turned out really well, and the lyics fit well with the etheral feeling. Hide: I've had this image for a while, and forgot about it until I was clearing out the PC the other day. I didn't want to crowd this image with stocks or other images, I wanted to leave that vague feeling of 'What she looking at?' I'm really happy with the result. Dues: Listening to this Anastaia song the other day immediatly made me think of Faith. I chose this image as she looks lonely and remorseful, yet strong at the same time. I kept the textures quite strong and hard, representing the unfocused thoughts that go on inside Faith's head. Future: I don't know what made me decide to do a Potentials piece, I just came acros the image and thought it would be a good idea. Again, I kept the textures very strong and colourful, and maybe a little rough, to represent the conflicting emotions happening between all of the Potentials Finally, the lovely Jess had made Seing Red her Site of the Round at Bite Me, and gave me this pretty little award: New Affiliate: Gutterflower __________________________________ Friday August 1st, 2008 August is finally upon us. How this year has flown. time for my Site of the Month, which this month goes to Bre at Primordial Souls. Congratulations. Onto the art, and today i'm adding Two new pieces. Living Doll: This is the first promotional imge for Eliza Dushku's new show Dollhouse. I think the picture is beautiful, and I wanted to create something very simple with it. I tried to make ELiza looks as doll-like as posible, which is why I smoothed out her skin and made her eyes very glass-y. I think it worked really well. And yes, those lyrics are the one and only Cliff Richards. Flesh and Blood: Yes, I am a Spander shipper. But this piece didn't exactly become the love piece I thought it might. I used the rough textures to represent the uneasy relationship Spike and Xander have, rather than focus on the kind of relationship I want them to have, lol. The words actually came from an ABBA song, and I thought they fit, and it descibes them perfectly. __________________________________ Thursday July 24th, 2008 Hey, you guys! Three Liz Parker: A sinple retouch I did for Electric Fire before I realized the round had ended, lol. I'm not crazy about this, but at the same time, I don't think it sucks. Booth and Brennan: My very first 'Bones' piece. I love these images of Emily and David, and rather than swamp them with textures, I wanted to focus on he colouring, which i think turned out quite well. Beautiful Disaster: If the 'Bones' piece was texture-lite, then this is its exact opposite. This result was nothing like the idea I had in my head when I sat down to create this. But, my muse decided it had changed its mind, and I eneded up with this. I actually really love this piece, I thought all the textures worked really well. The title 'Beautiful Disaster' came from the Kelly Clarkson song I was listening to at the time, and I just thought it fit, since it was a disaster compared to my original idea. I also added a new Banner to that section. I've loved this layout since the moment Sarah put it up, and since my muse has apparently taken a leave of absence as I go through all of my hospital tests, I thought it was about time I showed her some love by showing off her amazing work. And the fact that I just returned from New York less than a month, it makes me happy to look at this everyday. |
